coe-staff: VOTE REQUIRED - COE Internal Governance

Dear COE Colleagues:

The time has come for review and ratification of the college-wide internal governance framework. Much work has been happening across the college to refine the principals and language guiding our document and a collective thank you is in order for everybody's participation. The Provost expects to receive the college's ratified internal governance document by April 25th. That being said, this document is intended to always be a work in progress and subject to revision on an as-needed basis.

According to the CBA implementation timeline provided by Academic Affairs, we are now at the stage in the process where my office should provide explanation of any changes made to the document prepared by the internal governance workgroup (which incorporated individual as well as unit level feedback as part of its work). I am happy to report that no substantive changes have been made to the workgroup document by my office. We believe the framework provides the necessary structure and flexibility to accommodate diversity in department/unit level policies as well as opportunities for participation by employees of all classes in the governance process.

The document is now ready for a five day period of college-wide general review and voting before submission to the Provost for approval. You may find the document attached, and you can submit your vote at the following link: https://oregon.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_8CI7MnTmrbnhtXL.  A simple majority of those who vote will be sufficient to ratify the document.

Please note that the deadline for review and voting is 5pm, April 23.

As for what happens next for CBA policy development, stay tuned for:

merit pool distribution (currently in development)

equity pool distribution (in development)

faculty promotion and review (summer - fall)

assignment of professional responsibilities (summer - fall)
