Title: Mathematics Education for Students with Disabilities: Considering Curriculum and Technology
Dr. Emily Bouck, Associate Professor, Purdue University

This presentation will provide an overview Dr. Bouck's research related to mathematics education for students with disabilities. In particular, two foci within her mathematics education research agenda will be discussed: curriculum (e.g., reform-based vs. traditional) and then technology to support access and success (e.g., calculators).
Dr. Emily Bouck is an Associate Professor in the Special Education Program at Purdue University. Since earning her Ph.D. from Michigan State University, Emily has focused her research on improving the in-school and post-school outcomes for students with disabilities with particular emphasis on mathematics education and functional skills. To date, Emily has obtained external funding through an OSEP Leadership Preparation grant, an OSEP Steppingstones grant, and a Spencer Research grant, and has over 60 peer-reviewed publications. Emily also prepares pre-service and in-service teachers through such classes as introduction to special education, mild methods, assistive technology, and a special education law class
