*BUDGET REQUEST FOR FY 2014:INVESTING IN EARLY LEARNING *

The President's FY 2014 Budget Request highlights the Administration's 
strong commitment to early learning and makes large scale investments in 
that realm (see 
http://www2.ed.gov/about/overview/budget/budget14/crosscuttingissues/earlylearning.pdf). 


To speak to the overarching parameters of these investments, *the White 
House and the Departments of Education (ED) and Health and Human 
Services (HHS) will host a conference call with Secretaries Duncan and 
Sebelius tomorrow, Friday, April 12^th , 2013, beginning at 4:00 p.m., 
Eastern time.*  Hopefully, the late afternoon start time will allow for 
ease in participation for early learning stakeholders all across the 
country.  The call should last about an hour, and will allow some time 
for Q&A.  The dial-in information is as follows:

In addition, to support this ongoing conversation and delve deeper into 
the implications for the field, the Departments are hosting a *follow-up 
briefing on early learning*, with senior staff from both Departments

12:30-1:30PM, Eastern time, in ED's Potomac Center Plaza Auditorium, 550 
12^th Street, SW, 10^th floor, in Washington, DC. *This briefing will 
also be live streamed so that stakeholders outside the DC area may
