COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
STORAGE PROCEDURE
Purpose: To articulate COE expectations for storage of items in COE buildings. Each person in the COE is asked to be aware of and attentive to the correct system to store University and individual property. This is to ensure building and occupant safety as well as follow State and local Fire regulations and Campus Operations policies.
Procedure:
1) Hazardous materials, including improperly labeled chemicals shall not be stored in any closet, storeroom, office or public space.
2) All items stored in closets or storerooms are the sole responsibility of the individual departments. All items should be clearly marked, department name, date and contact phone number.
3) Items cannot impede ingress or egress in any space.
4) All items should be off the floor and at least twelve inches from the ceiling.
5) No items can be placed in front of or block any electrical or mechanical service panels and must be at least thirty inches away from such workings.
6) No items can be stored, even temporarily in public spaces EX: Hallways, classrooms, lobbies, etc...
