The following message is for COE Tenured and Tenure Track Faculty and is sent on behalf of the Clark Honors College.
CHC Faculty Fellow
Call for Submissions
Application Deadline: Monday, January 6, 2025
The CHC seeks tenured faculty to become CHC Faculty Fellows. The CHC Faculty Fellows program attracts highly motivated and skilled teachers and scholars to work together in the Robert D. Clark Honors College. Honors college classes are discussion-based, with small groups of no more than 19 highly motivated students with strong academic skills. The CHC’s small class sizes and curriculum lend themselves to experiments in pedagogy. The CHC serves students from all schools and colleges, and classes encourage interdisciplinarity while cultivating critical and creative thinking, writing, reading, and communication skills.
CHC Faculty Fellows are members of the College’s interdisciplinary core faculty, where they work collaboratively with CHC career faculty. Focused on student success, the CHC provides support for teaching innovation, through CHC Teaching Innovation grants and CHC teaching circles, as well as opportunities to teach core courses through the lens of individual faculty members’ disciplinary expertise and interests.
CHC Faculty Fellow appointments are for three-year terms and may be renewed. CHC Faculty Fellows move their full teaching and service FTE to the CHC while their research homes remain in their departmental units. A CHC Faculty Fellow’s teaching load is four 4-credit CHC courses per academic year, they teach at every level of the CHC curriculum, serve on a maximum of 7 thesis committees per year as CHC representative, and serve as faculty advisor to between 20 and 30 students. The CHC has three professional advisors and undergraduate peer mentors who also provide advising support.
Additional information about the CHC Faculty Fellows program, including minimum qualifications and application instructions, can be found here on the CHC website<https://honors.uoregon.edu/faculty-fellows-call-applications>.
