coe-fac: Professional Responsibilities Policy Submitted to OtP

The following message is sent on behalf of Dean Laura Lee McIntyre:

Dear COE Faculty,

I have had an opportunity to review OtP recorded faculty version of the College of Education Professional Responsibilities Policy and will be returning it to the Office of the Provost for final review and approval with no changes. I reviewed the remaining concerns that were shared with me, particularly those regarding Career Instructional Faculty expectations for scholarship, and the nuances associated with professional development, clinical supervision, and the assignment of teaching, and I agree that each of these items warrants intentional consideration at the time of implementation to ensure that the policy has been equitably applied.

Related to the remaining concerns that were raised, I support the committee's recommendation that we revisit this policy again in light of the promotion policies, once they are developed, as well as the recommendation that we consistently revisit implementation guidance around this policy as we learn more about how the new policy is being implemented.

In advance of those future reviews, I invite you to review the minor edits I made to the implementation guidance (document "c" below) to address some of the context associated with the remaining concerns. Faculty are welcome to reach out to me with any specific thoughts and/or feedback that may inform our shared implementation of this updated policy.

Overall, I am pleased with the policy, and the many areas that have been clarified by this version, and I agree with the decision to keep the workload structure essentially the same as the prior policy.

I am grateful to the committee for their thoughtful development of this policy given that it is layered, multi-faceted and touches so many facets of a faculty-member's day to day role. Gratitude to:
