Subject: 2023: Pre-Freshman Study Abroad Faculty Call

Dear Colleagues:

I hope you are all enjoying your summer and finding ways to stay cool.

Although we in Global Education Oregon (GEO) study abroad have not yet finished sending out our largest summer study abroad cohort in the history of UO<https://around.uoregon.edu/content/summer-study-abroad-program-breaks-enrollment-record>, it is already time to start planning for next year.

This planning includes seeking a new faculty leader for each of our two summer 2023 Advancing your Student Success: Pre-freshman Studies GEO study abroad programs in London<https://geo.uoregon.edu/programs/united-kingdom/advancing-your-academic-success-pre-freshman-studies-london> and Siena, Italy<https://geo.uoregon.edu/programs/europe-italy/advancing-your-academic-success-pre-freshman-studies-siena>. These unique and inspiring programs provide a small cohort of first-year students an impactful global engagement experience before they even begin their UO career.  The London program has run successfully since 2016, and the Siena program is successfully completing its inaugural run this week.

Unlike other programs that your faculty design and provide full instruction for, the faculty leader for a pre-freshman program teaches only a one-credit flagship course (“Advancing Your Academic Success”) while also serving as a mentor for students onsite.  The other courses and program logistics are managed by the faculty and staff at our GEO London Center<https://geo.uoregon.edu/london-united-kingdom> or GEO Siena Center<https://geo.uoregon.edu/siena-italy>.
