Subject: Join us for a summer Week of Writing, June 21-24
Dear colleagues,
The end of the most difficult year to date is finally upon us, and CoDaC's Faculty Writing Circle program is ready to celebrate.
Time to sign up for our third summer Week of Writing, happening June 21-24! After grading, we'll enjoy a few days' respite and relaxation. Then, after Juneteenth, we'll assemble virtually and in-person to jump-start our summer research and writing projects. Please join us to plan and set in motion a successful summer of writing and research in a supportive and inclusive environment.
We will offer both virtual and in-person options for you to choose from.
Details are below. Sign up here:
Click here to sign up for a virtual WoW<https://oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_72tPtG2mJEsgCBo>. <-- This survey asks for your preferences about writing goals and being matched with a virtual small group. Survey takes about 3 minutes.
Click here to sign up to write at least partly in person<https://oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0vLnaKSjtVVOpWm>. <-- This survey helps us prepare to write with you in person. Survey takes about 2 minutes or less.
The goal of the week, as always, is to set goals and make progress toward them in a context of shared purpose and collegiality. You'll meet other faculty with similar goals while choosing the time and format of your daily work.
Details and schedule:
* Virtual writers will be put in small groups with similar time availability and contact preferences for the week. You can indicate whether you want lots of or minimal interaction with group members. We'll also help you identify the goals you most want to achieve during the summer and craft a realistic roadmap to help you meet them. You'll write Tuesday-Friday. Join us for an outdoor, in-person reception Friday, June 24, 4-5:30.
* Each day during the Week of Writing, virtual participants pick an approach to the day's writing. We provide multiple suggestions for writing structure, suitable for any amount of availability. You write only during the time you actually have. Parents and caregivers: what a year. You, and all virtual writers, will get lunch on us in the form of a Noisette gift certificate that you can use during the week or when it's convenient.
* In-person writers will have 2.5 days to write together, in the Knight Library Dream Lab, Wednesday-Friday, June 22-24. We'll start with a morning session on Wednesday, then offer morning and afternoon sessions on Thursday and Friday. On those days, come to both or just the one that better fits into your schedule.
* Tuesday-Thursday, Michael Murashige, CoDaC's writing consultant, will offer daily writing-themed workshops. Workshops will be offered both virtually and in person. Topics will include ways to approach Planning; Introductions; and Arguments.
