Subject: Faculty-in-Residence CFP 2022-23
Dear Deans,
Thank you for your past efforts to staff CHC courses and recruit new faculty-in-residence. The CHC attracts future leaders of government, research, and industry to the UO, drawn by the unique benefits of a small liberal arts curriculum and the resources of a large research institution. CHC students take courses and major in degrees drawn from your schools and colleges, and they work closely on research and scholarly activities with thesis advisors and mentors in your departments and programs.
As you know, this year, the CHC welcomed the largest class in its history: over 400 students (a third of them from out-of-state). The need for faculty to support and lead the College has never been greater. Schools and colleges can help ensure the CHC’s continued success by supporting its Faculty-in-Residence (FiR) program<https://honors.uoregon.edu/fir-call-submissions>.
Please forward this link to your faculty and encourage them to apply to be FiRs. Over the next six weeks, I will be working with deans to establish clear goals and expectations for each school and college’s participation.
Applications are due April 18, 2022, so time is of the essence.
Sincerely,
Patrick Phillips
Provost and Senior Vice President
