Dear Colleagues,
We invite you and your students to participate in the 11th annual Undergraduate Research Symposium on Thursday, May 27, 2021.
We will host a virtual symposium again this year, blending livestream and recorded presentation opportunities. The pivot to a virtual symposium in 2020 culminated in a digital exhibit of undergraduate research on our symposium YouTube channel<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.youtube.com/c/UOUndergraduateResearchSymposium__;!!C5qS4YX3!TWw5leWktPYzz9VmwVU7xfQY95Jwk0kqndhrzyRrjn-GVivQny2-0Djwvb7Jfv-NDA$>.
This year, the Undergraduate Research Symposium<https://undergradsymposium.uoregon.edu/> has streamlined the participation process by separating the presenter registration from the submission of presenter abstracts.
Students can register to present<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_beYprIlNpQo8MvP__;!!C5qS4YX3!TWw5leWktPYzz9VmwVU7xfQY95Jwk0kqndhrzyRrjn-GVivQny2-0Djwvb6XRq7SZg$> at the symposium through April 12, 2021. Students then will finalize their abstracts and submit them with their participation confirmation between April 12-24, 2021.
Research and creative work presentations from all disciplines and fields are welcome, in any format-from oral and poster presentations to art installations, film screenings, poetry slams, and spoken word, music, dance, and theater performances.
The symposium encourages "work-in-progress" presentations, and offers an innovative session called "data stories," which enables students to share how they work with data of all types-from numbers to narratives and art to artifacts.
Students may take advantage of symposium resources to prepare and deliver their presentations. These include:
* Virtual class visits to facilitate symposium presentation planning and abstract submissions
* Virtual drop-in or by-appointment office hours<https://cure.uoregon.edu/advising-info/> for individual and group consultations
* Online resources<https://undergradsymposium.uoregon.edu/prepare-your-presentation> for developing oral, poster, and creative work presentations-from sample abstracts and posters to poster design infographics and video interviews with past presenters
If you have any questions, reach out to us at ugresearch at uoregon.edu<mailto:ugresearch at uoregon.edu>.
Sincerely,
Kevin Hatfield and Nadia Singh
