I am pleased to announce the availability of 18 master’s degree student recruitment scholarships. Most of these scholarships will include an award of $8,000 for a maximum of one academic year. New this year are two recruitment scholarships (Prevention Science and School Psychology) that will cover tuition and fees for two to three years. These scholarships are awarded by our academic program area faculty at the time of admission to help recruit the most highly qualified students to our master’s programs. Please note, applicants who have already accepted an admission offer from the UO do not qualify for recruitment funding.

Recruitment scholarships were made available to master’s degree programs based on:

·         donor gift agreement stipulations (e.g., some scholarships specific academic programs and financial need),

·         current academic program enrollments and applicant pools (e.g., large programs with the potential to grow further),

·         and licensure area personnel shortages (e.g., secondary teachers, special educators, speech pathologists, etc.).

In order to make student recruitment more efficient and effective, our Development group has created a procedure for making these awards that involves completion of a simple form.  The only requirement is that nominees be approved by the Office of Development before any offers to candidates can be made. It is not the program or department's responsibility to ascertain a nominee's financial need or Oregon state residency. The COE Office of Development will determine financial need and residency of nominees and will inform you if your recruit does NOT meet the requirement.


Please provide an alternative nominee for each recruitment scholarship available. Nominees must be cleared with the Office of Development before any offers to candidates can be made or mentioned.
