Dear Faculty and Students,
The College of Education is hosting an event as part of the School of Journalism’s Freedom of Expression series. This interactive event is entitled “Raising Student Voice: Freedom of Expression Symposium” and is dedicated to exploring the challenges and questions that high school and college educators, policymakers, administrators, and students face when enacting policies and practices intended to strengthen supports for freedom of expression on their respective campuses.
We also hope to identify ways to ensure that students who are entering higher education can be prepared for an environment in which ideas may be more challenging, and more frequently challenged, than in their previous educational settings. We believe that open and honest discourse is a good first step towards fostering a better understanding of the different points of view and considerations that will ultimately help us as we craft best-practice solutions for future educational stakeholders.
Please read on for full details and to RSVP (below).

* Can schools support “freedom of expression” and yet remain neutral spaces for learning?
