Dear COE Faculty,
The 2017-2018 merit review process is now underway. The process for eligible faculty will be the same process that was undertaken last year. The timeframe, materials, and process for eligible faculty are described below.
[Note: The process steps described below apply to eligible faculty only. Pro tem, adjunct, and visiting faculty members, retired faculty members in appointments outside of the TRP program, and postdoctoral scholars are ineligible. For OAs, merit review process is based on the OA merit policy. Eligible UO OAs received an email dated 9.27.17 from the VPFA describing the OA process and timeline.]

Faculty Merit process:
Department and Unit Heads will submit merit recommendations to the Dean's office. The Dean's office will make final decisions regarding merit. Merit increases will take effect January 1st 2018. Please review the information below and send the requested materials to your Department or Unit Heads by October 31, 2017.

Timeframe:

* The period of the current 2017 merit review extends back to the last performance assessment end date (which was October 31st, 2016), and runs through October 31st 2017. So, materials, productivity, and faculty activity dated from November 1, 2016, will be included in the current merit review.

Materials to submit:

* An updated curriculum vita - in which you use the highlight function (directly applied to any activity, productivity, service, teaching, etc.) to highlight updates to the November 2016 - October, 2017, time period.

* A one-page Personal Statement in which you may communicate anything about your teaching, research, service, and/or other professional activity during the November 2016 - October, 2017 period that you would like to highlight as part of your Merit Review.

Review Process:

* Unit or Department Merit Review Committees or Unit Directors or Department Heads, in conjunction with the Internal Governance Policies of the unit, will review the materials identified above in making Merit recommendations to the Dean of the College of Education. If a faculty member has multiple appointments the faculty member will submit materials to both unit or department head(s) as appropriate. If the duties in each appointment are identical, the administrators involved may collaborate on the merit recommendation.

* Materials described above to be included in the 2017 faculty Merit Review are due to your Department or Unit Head by October 31, 2017.

Best,
Dianna
