Sent on behalf of Bill Harbaugh.  Please share with your department's personnel.

Dear Senate Constituents:

UO is beginning the search for a new provost, and President Schill has asked the Senate to provide nominations for the search committee. In an effort to ensure wide participation in the composition of the search committee we are sending this message to current and past Senators and all committee members in the Senate database. Please forward it to your constituents and colleagues.

The deadline for responses is 5PM this Friday, June 24.

To make a nomination follow the link below to a Google form. After you submit the form you will be taken to a new form, where you can make additional nominations if you wish, etc. While it's good practice to check with a nominee to make sure they are willing to serve, it is not necessary given the time limit. After we have collected these nominations we will collect input from the elected Senators and then send the complete list of nominees, and the Senate input, to President Schill. (Senators will get an email about this process soon.)

President Schill has said that he will be responsible for choosing the search committee members. While our nominations and input are only advisory, I believe that they will helpful to the President. While tenure track faculty will comprise the majority of the search committee, we encourage nominations for members from all Senate constituencies.
