Dear Colleagues - I wanted to make you aware of an upcoming grant writing seminar offered through the UO Research Office - See below for details.
The Office of Research & Innovation, through its Research Development Services unit, is sponsoring a one-day seminar, "Write Winning Grant Proposals", on Friday, March 20, 2015, from 8:30 - 5:00 pm. All faculty members and post-doctoral appointees are eligible to attend.
The seminar will be presented by Grant Writers Seminars and Workshops. This organization, composed of successful university researchers, is well known for their comprehensive and high quality training programs for faculty investigators. They present this seminar at many of the nation's best research universities. We last hosted them on our campus in the Fall of 2012, and their workshop was very well received.
This one-day seminar provides a step-by-step guide to developing successful applications for funding by federal funding agencies, with a specific focus on NIH and NSF. The trainer for our seminar is Peg AtKisson, Ph.D., previously a federally funded faculty member at Tufts University School of Medicine. She founded Proposal Development Services at Tufts, assisting faculty there in competing successfully for external awards from a wide range of agencies and private funders.
All faculty registered will receive a comprehensive reference workbook in either NSF or NIH format provided as a part of their participation at no cost, courtesy of my office. Postdoctoral appointees are also encouraged to attend, and the Research office will split the cost of their workbooks ($70) with their labs.
Please register with Research Development Services by contacting them at rds at uoregon.edu<mailto:rds at uoregon.edu> . Questions may be directed to Lynn Stearney, Director, Research Development Services at stearney at uoregon.edu<mailto:stearney at uoregon.edu> or 346-8308
