COE Faculty:

I write to inform you of the upcoming review process that we in the COE will follow in assigning the merit raises that were announced by the UO this spring

Please know that the salary adjustment program for faculty is only for those individuals who the UO and United Academics (the union that has been established this academic year) have determined not to be represented by the union. Therefore, at this point, only those faculty who are unrepresented by the union are eligible for the merit raise. The list of eligible faculty was established through an extensive legal review process on the part of the union and the UO. I must be honest that the list of unrepresented faculty is short and most of you will not be eligible for this merit raise at this point in time.

In the next few weeks, we will be gathering personnel reviews on faculty who are not represented by the union and eligible for the merit raise. Parallel with that faculty review process will be a performance review of COE Officers of Administration. Eligible faculty and Officers of Administration in the COE will be recommended for raises by the end of the spring term with raises beginning July 1.

It is my understanding that part of the collective bargaining agreement will address the terms governing faculty salary adjustments in the future. Accordingly, faculty who are represented by the union may be assigned raises based on those yet to be finalized guidelines.

This current salary adjustment process is unique for us all as we move to become a unionized faculty. If you have questions, please feel free to contact your immediate supervisor, your union representative, or me.

Mike
