Fall term Internships
The application deadline for a fall term internship is April 15th, 2013. If you plan to intern abroad between September and December of 2013, start planning your application now! See a few of the possible internships below or search for your dream internship here

INDIA: New Opportunities coming soon!
Watch for exciting new opportunities in India in the coming months.
Our regional director, Eric Skaar, is currently in India identifying new internship sites. We'll make announcements through email and Facebook when the sites are ready for applicants.
INDIA: Chaitanya
Work with women's empowerment projects in rural India.
Chaitanya focuses on women's empowerment, microfinance, self help groups, and health projects in rural Maharshtra, India. Projects range from microfinance linkages with banks to water sanitation. Interns can be involved with a variety of villages and projects.

INDIA: Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE)- Journalism Focus
Work in the communications department to communicate the environmental research and accomplishments of ATREE.
ATREE strives to conserve biodiversity and promote sustainable economic development using principles of both natural and social sciences. Interns with a journalism/photojournalism focus are needed in the communications department to publish on the ATREE website and work on publications ranging from a calendar to blogs. Internships include field visits and office work.

CHINA: The Schoolhouse at Mutianyu
Support a sustainable tourism enterprise that offers dining, lodging, and meeting solutions in unique settings just an hour from downtown Beijing at the base of the Great Wall.
The Schoolhouse at Mutianyu has a variety of challenging internship positions available: Sustainable Foods Program Intern, Business Development and Event Management Intern, Sustainable Accounting Intern, and Senior Sales and Customer Relations Intern. Interns will be given an opportunity to contribute based on their skills and interests while learning about the operations involved in running an eco-tourism business.
Language Requirement: Some Mandarin required for some of the positions.
Stipend: Room and board, a monthly stipend, and a night per week in Beijing is provided! For more information, read the full position description.
CHINA: Jinqiao Schools
Looking for a very affordable internship in a historic area an hour outside of Shanghai?
Work in an elementary school, kindergarten or language training school as a conversational English teacher in Wuxi, China. Stipend and room and board are provided with homestay or apartment housing provided. Additionally, at least 25% of your international airfare will be reimbursed upon completion of the internship. One term internships are possible. Mandarin lessons provided for those interested in learning some Chinese.
Language requirement: Applicant needs to speak English fluently. Some level of spoken Mandarin Chinese is helpful for everyday living but not necessary for work.. Stipend:$250/month, plus room and board, transportation, cell phone, and partial or full airfare reimbursement.

CHINA: U.S Commercial Service
Support the Commercial Section help U.S. firms export their goods and services to China.
Interns engage in a variety of tasks such as policy research and analysis, support work on intellectual property issues, aid commercial service product launches, participate in business advocacy meetings, trade shows and more!
Language requirement: It is preferred that interns have sufficient Mandarin speaking skills to help navigate life outside of the office and to communicate respectfully with local officials and business people. The greater the applicant's skills (speaking, reading and writing) the more he or she will be able to support and learn.

Thailand: Highland Farm Gibbon Sanctuary
Highland Farm Gibbon Sanctuary is a world between jungle and zoo that is not only a safe haven for captive gibbons but helps to educate the people who visit us both in person and online.
Highland Farm Gibbon Sanctuary is devoted to the rescuing, care and protection of any rejected or abused gibbons. It is a haven that affords them a safe world between jungle and zoo. Interns support projects and help care for more than 45 Lar, Pileated, and Concolor gibbons reflecting various physical and emotional states. Join a team providing these rescued and donated gibbons with love, good shelter, an excellent diet, medical attention, socialization with other gibbons, and human interaction.

Tokyo: English Lifeline (TELL)
Gain valuable experience in a multicultural environment in the field of counseling, fundraising or event planning for a non-profit mental health organization.
Three distinct internship options available. Supervision provided by a licensed psychologist. The Life Line's highly trained volunteer counselors provide free, anonymous and confidential telephone counseling and general resource information 365 days a year. Face-to-face counseling by professional, qualified psychotherapists is available for individuals, families and groups on a variety of topics.
Language Requirement: English fluency OR Japanese fluency with conversational English. Some conversational Japanese is a plus for native English speakers.

Language requirements:English is the main medium of communication in the office and also to interact socially. Knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia / Bahasa Indonesia / Mandarin / Tamil will be an added advantage.

Vietnam: Green Building Council
The Vietnam Green Building Council office in Hanoi, Vietnam, is looking for interns enthusiastic about sustainable development and climate change issues. Interns at the VGBC use their academic and working backgrounds in engineering (M&E, civil, environmental), architecture, marketing, communication, environment, administration, education and more. The VGBC strives to raise awareness and build capacity for green building in Vietnam. It has developed and implemented a number of training courses, hosted workshops, and continues to work with stakeholders across the country and internationally.

INDIA: Center for Social Medicine
Experience the front-line of rural healthcare in an innovative, community focused environment.
The Center for Social Medicine is housed in a university adjacent to a hospital that provides innovative rural health services to a wide range of beneficiaries. Interns will study the health challenges of rural India from a systemic and clinical view. Interns may shadow doctors or nurses in the hospital, tour mobile and e-clinics, engage in trainings for women's empowerment initiatives, visit HIV/AIDS prevention programs and study health in tribal communities. Using sound training and development principles, this internship meets the learning goals for students interested in public health, pre-med, nursing, dentistry. community health education as well as rural development.
