To UO Business travelers and their Delegates:
* On November 4, travelers and their delegates will start seeing airline Basic Economy Fares* available for purchase in the Concur booking tool. This enhancement is a result of UO traveler feedback. (*Called "Saver Fares" by Alaska Airlines)
BUYER BEWARE ****** Important notes about these fares: Basic Economy Fares are VERY restrictive and every airline has slightly different rules:
* MOST IMPORTANT: Absolutely no changes or refunds. Business travel often requires flexibility!
* No advance seat assignment - additional fees required
* No checked and often no carry-on bags - additional fees required
* No advance check in. Seat will be assigned after check in at the airport
* No personal frequent flyer mileage point accumulation
* No upgrades
* Passengers with Basic Economy tickets board last. No priority boarding
Basic Economy Fares tend to be about $20-$60 less than regular economy/coach fares. Compare the difference:

If you purchase a Basic Economy fare and your plans change, you will need to purchase a brand new ticket. There are no exceptions. Using the pricing example above: $300 original + $300 or more for the new ticket = your final travel cost might be $600 or more!
Travelers must review fares within 24 hours of ticketing. The responsibility for a booking error lies with the traveler. Your TMC is not responsible for your booking errors, cannot waive airline rules and cannot make changes to your Basic Economy Ticket. You will need to start over with a brand new ticket.
Bottom line - you may end up paying MORE for this type of ticket. You cannot make changes for any reason and these ticket do not offer travel basics expected when flying for business travel.
