Answer to Question Poised During PCS Office Hours

At the PCS Open Office Hours session last week with CDGW, an attendee asked the following question:

Now that the university has an enterprise Microsoft license that includes Windows operating systems, can we buy computers with Linux and install a Microsoft OS without violating any Microsoft licensing agreements?

Yes. When you buy Windows-based computers with UO funds you can install any version of Microsoft Windows that is available as part of the enterprise Microsoft license.

This was not the case prior to buying into the enterprise Microsoft license, which became active in January, 2015.
