el taller 2025 presents HISTORIA DE LOS REYES DE TAIFAS

December 9th, 2025 | 5:30 PM | hybrid event

Dear friends and colleagues,

This year’s “el taller reads together” pick is Dr. Almudena Ariza Armada’s recently-published Historia de los Reyes de Taifas (Editorial Dilema, 2025). Revisiting the written and material sources for the petty kingdoms of 11th-century al-Andalus, the volume takes a new approach to understanding how the rulers of these party states asserted and imagined their own sovereignty.

Please join us for a conversation with the author on Tuesday, December 9, at 5:30pm in the Richard Ettinhausen Library. A light dinner will follow for in-person attendees.

This hybrid event invites both in-person and virtual participation and is free and open to the public. Registration is required by December 1 for all Zoom attendees and any non-NYU affiliates who wish to attend in person. The registration form is available at: https://tinyurl.com/eltallerreads2025<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__tinyurl.com_eltallerreads2025&d=DwQFaQ&c=slrrB7dE8n7gBJbeO0g-IQ&r=ck4iza9oxdqY_8hIleb8jMJiJtdQfn2wy3p4ADtNfPc&m=7Smsz8gAqQJNKwyqtzTQ_jetPp6z4G3E0yZpt5sh3vR0QbRVfHkrljfxw8f6527_&s=laDIqnGnUu6Zmpw5VaM7uzPqk1NQjbVRsQ9SL4cdDDk&e=>.

We have a limited number of copies of Dr. Ariza’s book to share with attendees. These can be requested through the registration form.

We look forward to seeing you there!
