Hello travel coordinators -
Some of the toll roads and toll bridges in Seattle and San Francisco Bay Area do not have toll booths that allow drivers to pay the toll fee. Travelers can set up a onetime payment option prior to their trip or within 48 hours of incurring the toll expense.
For the Seattle are http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/GoodToGo/
For the Golden Gate Bridge https://www.bayareafastrak.org/en/home/index.shtml
As a driver passes through these toll roads/bridges their license plate is photographed and it is matched up with the payment. If payment is not collected, FasTrak and WSDOT will send an invoice to vehicle's registered owner.
When someone drives a motor pool vehicle, the invoice is sent to motor pool and they will contact the driver and request that they pay the toll. If the toll is not paid on time, a penalty is assessed by FasTrak and WSDOT. Your travelers can be reimbursed for tolls but not for penalties.
When someone drives a rented vehicle, the invoice is sent to the rental agency and they will charge the traveler credit card with an added service fee.
Anyone driving through the wrong lane on a toll road/bridge will be assessed a fine and cannot be reimbursed for the fine.
If you know your traveler is driving to either the Seattle or San Francisco area, please provide them the information for toll payment options.
Thank you,
