Dear Senate Executive Committee,
Yvette asked me to invite the Senate Executive Committee to meet with Johnathan Holloway as part of his days' events on October 10th. Jonathan Holloway is our first African American Workshop and Lecture Series (AAWLS) speaker this year. He is a renowned historian of post-emancipation America and current president and CEO of the Henry R. Luce Foundation. Holloway also served as the 21st president of Rutgers University.
Time and Venue: October 10 @3 pm in the EMU Rogue Room (which fits up to 18). (FYI, I started with Dyana and she's responded that she will attend the 3pm meeting and she has signed up for the public lecture). This would be a chance for the Senate Exec Committee to informally discuss shared governance, the state of higher education, freedom of speech, philanthropy, anything of interest from his public lecture, etc.
His public lecture will be earlier that day at 11:30 AM, Friday, October 10, 2025. The title of his lecture
: "The History of Absence: Race and the Making of the Modern World"<https://inclusion.uoregon.edu/2025-26-african-american-workshop-and-lecture-series>
RSVP for lecture at: https://oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9zC81fI67dA1wMe.
Please let me know if you can join the 3pm meeting!
All best,
Charlotte
