[Uosenateexec] Request for a QUICK email vote

Thank you, Senate Exec —

We now have received votes from 11 people, which constitutes a quorum. The verdict is a unanimous yes.

One caveat — I mistakenly said Undergraduate Council when it is, in fact, Graduate Council. I apologize. I assume that this detail would not change anyone’s vote, but if I hear otherwise from 6 people in the next few hours, that would reverse the outcome of the approval. No need to respond if it’s OK, only if you want to change your vote.

Dear Senate Exec,

Thank you for your great advising yesterday, and for offering each other so many chances to laugh as we worked through some serious business. I feel lucky to have this group! Apologies in advance that you will receive two different messages from me today, this one looking for as immediate a response as possible, the second looking for a merely rapid response.

We have one more candidate awaiting your approval, this one for the recently-opened School of Journalism and Communication seat on the Undergraduate Council. Chris Chavez, Associate Professor, SOJC has agreed to serve pending confirmation by this group.

Please reply to this email ASAP with a single word, either “Yes” or “No”. Of course, if someone sees a reason that we need to discuss, let me know and we can have a more deliberative process.

I ask you to reply just to me — this is not a secret ballot, but as a practical matter I’d rather not clog up people’s inboxes with reply alls. When we reach a quorum I will take whichever vote is higher and communicate the result to our candidate and the convener of the Undergraduate Council.
