<div class="">I agree that this resolution would benefit from some teeth. As it is it is mostly calling on “the university” - I assume this means the university administration - to do things - e.g. report on the UOPD and for the President’s Task Force to act.
This is unlikely to have much effect. </div>

<div class="">I suggest that the Senate instead appoint its own committee to investigate and report on these issues, as well as on other issues such as UO's exploitation of black-student athletes and the effectiveness of the VPEI’s office as currently structured.
The charge should include bringing appropriate legislation to the Senate for vote. <br class="">

The impetus for this resolution began when a student advocacy group reached out to us requesting that we put forward a resolution on their behalf. They asked us to craft “<i class="">a strong, collaborative message to be sent to the University focused on addressing
(their) feelings of grief, isolation, and unsafety.”</i><span class="x_x_apple-converted-space"> </span>We have attempted to do so here, by gathered advice and suggestions from numerous individuals from a variety of constituent groups on campus. <span class="x_Apple-converted-space"> </span></div>
