Dear Senators,

I hope those of you who were able to attend our orientation event this week found it useful, particularly those who are new. Please feel free to reach out to our Parliamentarian Sandy Weintraub<mailto:sandymw at uoregon.edu> or myself whenever you have any questions about Senate processes (such as how to create and bring a motion to the senate for discussion and a vote). We very much enjoyed getting the chance to attach names to faces and learn a little more about all of you. We look forward to working with you all this year!

Today, I am writing to remind you we have our first official regular senate meeting scheduled for 3:00 - 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021. You will find the agenda, along with the Zoom link (which you should have received previously in the form of a calendar invite) on the UO Senate website<https://senate.uoregon.edu/senate-meetings/2021-2022>.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments, or if you anticipate being unable to attend. For those as yet unfamiliar with our Senate Bylaws<https://senate.uoregon.edu/sites/senate1.uoregon.edu/files/2020-12/BYLAWS-of-the-University-of-Oregon-Senate.pdf>, there is a provision that encourages you to find a substitute if you are unable to attend yourself (we have a quorum requirement for discussion and voting on motions).
