Good News, Senators!

I just learned that the UO Administration, at the request of the faculty union, has agreed to drop the progressive pay cut plan that was negotiated last summer to save the jobs of ~200 Career faculty who had been renewed at 0.1 FTE. Apparently the financial shape of the university is much better than they predicted last May, so there is no need for any faculty pay cuts. The upshot of this is that through vigorous negotiation, the union kept the FTE for all of the Career Faculty who had been cut last May and also set up the pay cut plan so that it would be enacted only after enough time passed for the financial situation to become clear. Without a union, we would have been cut last year. Now there will be no cuts. The details should be out in Around the O later today.

Be well,
Edward
