Hello, folks!
I'm sharing this out on behalf of Luis Renteria, Sr. Asst. Director of Multicultural Recruitment. The Diversity Excellence Scholarship (DES) is the scholarship we at CMAE work with. Once chosen by the DES committee, DES students work with CMAE advisors throughout their time at UO.
Two things:
If you are interested in being a reader for the scholarship, reply back to Luis and let him know. The more folks read, the less reading there is. Information below.
Please encourage your students, if you haven't done so already, to apply for the DES. It is good for new incoming transfer and freshmen students, as well as current and continuing UO students.
Deadline: January 24, 2018. https://financialaid.uoregon.edu/diversity_excellence_scholarship
Thank you! Rosa

Subject: Save the date for DES reader training
Importance: High
Hello DES Team,
I hope this email finds you well, and in good spirits enjoying Winter term. It's that time of year again for the Diversity Excellence Scholarship selection. Some of you have been part of DES selection in the past, and we are hoping that once again you will assist us in this very important process. For those of you who are receiving this e-mail for the first time, this is your invite to join our awesome DES file reading team this year, and we hope that you accept, and make our team stronger!
The Diversity Excellence Scholarship (DES) recognizes the academic achievement and potential of students who, through sharing their varied cultural perspectives, will enhance the education of all UO students and the excellence of the university. The University of Oregon offers these tuition-remission scholarships as part of our diversity mission<http://financialaid.uoregon.edu/diversity_mission>. To learn more about DES, award information, eligibility requirements, how students may apply, and selection criteria, visit: financialaid.uoregon.edu/diversity_excellence_scholarship<http://financialaid.uoregon.edu/diversity_excellence_scholarship>.
When: January 16, 2018
Where: Diamond lake EMU 119
Time: 10:00am - noon (it won't take 2 hours but we will have snacks and refreshments)
Dr. Yvette Alex- Assensoh will join us for the first ten minutes to share her thoughts on the significance of the DES to not only our students, but the campus community, and provide us with more info regarding the UO's diversity mission.
So that you are able to assess your ability to participate in DES file reading and selection, here are the timelines we will be following:
Freshmen and Law
February 5, 2018 - Online reading open to readers
February 23, 2018 - File reading complete, reader scores submitted
March 5 - 19, 2018 - Processing and final decisions
March 19, 2017 - Scholarship decision letters go out
Transfer, Continuing Undergrad, Grad
February 13, 2018 - Online reading open to readers
March 2, 2018 - File reading complete, reader scores submitted
March 12 -16, 2018 - Processing and final decisions
March 21, 2017 - Scholarship decision letters go out
* Please note that, the majority of work as a reader will be less than 2 weeks, and this year we have many more readers which means less reading files for everyone!
* For those of you who have read for DES in the past, you do not need to attend a training session. If you choose not to attend a training session, but will read again this year, please let me know.
* If you are not able to participate this year, please let me know.
Thank you for your time, and consideration, and I hope you are as excited as I am to be a part of our continued commitment to recognize students who are both academically, and culturally diverse. Looking forward to hearing from you soon, and working with you all.
Go Ducks!
Luis
