Dear colleagues,

As we begin to work with students who are setting up their spring term
schedules, I would like to draw your attention to two of our exciting
courses being offered in the Dept. of Romance Languages this spring:

--------------------------------

SPAN 399 Sp St Latinos & Education CRN 35371
Prerequisite: one from SPAN 301, 303, 305, 308
Instructor: Amy Costales

This course can be used as an elective requirement for the Spanish major
or minor. Course description forthcoming. For more information contact
Amy Costales at <acostale at uoregon.edu>

--------------------------------

MUS 407 Performing Pilgrimage CRN 36741
NO PREREQUISITE MW 3:30–4:50

The writing, art, music, and manuscripts of men and women traveling for
religious purposes, to Rome, to Santiago, to Canterbury, to the Holy
Land, to local shrines. We’ll look at pilgrims and routes in medieval
Iberia, the Francophone lands, and the Italian peninsula, and explore
modern connections to them. No background in music is required, and the
hiking is optional.

This course can fulfill 400-level literature in residence requirements
for Spanish majors or minors (as well as majors in French, Italian, RL)
if students do reading and writing in the target language.

For more information contact Gina Psaki rpsaki at uoregon.edu or Lori
Kruckenberg lorkruck at uoregon.edu
--------------------------------

Of course, we will have MANY more courses in Spanish, French, Italian
and Portuguese, but these two are not taught very often and may be the
perfect fit for some students.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,
Kelley
