Dear Colleagues,
I would like to invite you to a great opportunity to contribute to our efforts for equity and inclusion on our campus!
Tarea Time is an initiative of the Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence (CMAE), coordinated by Karla Pérez-Young, which focuses on mentoring by guiding students from all backgrounds in the utilization of all resources available regarding financial aid, scholarships, internships, career development, professionalization, and ultimately academic success!
Tarea Time meets every Tuesday, form 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Coquille Room EMU #104 (weeks 2-10).
This is a great opportunity for you to connect with students, to let them know about the courses you teach, as well as the research you do. You could move your office hours to Tarea Time at least once this academic year, and let all your students know about this initiative.
If you want to move your office hours to Tarea Time this Fall 2017 term, please sign in here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vCGUhSfz1lsN0n0UqSPKFMD1ShZBWopm8VSliLvwhbg/edit
And please let your students know that every week at Tarea Time they can get support with:
· Writing (Nora Fandino, Adviser at TLC)
· Building their CV and get career advice (Samantha Matta, Assistant Director at Career Center)
· Meet with a CMAE or OAA advisor (Advisers Karla Pérez-Young, Dulce Castro, Rosa Chavez)
· Spanish (RL instructors and professors)
· Math and Science
Thank you very much for all your help spreading the word!
