Subject: [Divisionugs] Common Reading Call for Book Nominations!

Hello all!

The University of Oregon Common Reading Program is seeking book nominations for the 2018-2019 Common Reading book selection!

The Common Reading Program in the Division of Undergraduate Studies works each year to select a title that will be used as a jumping off point for programming, events, and opportunities for students, faculty, and staff in the following academic year. Previous titles have included Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates, and this year’s selection, The Round House, by Louise Erdrich.

As a member of this year’s Common Reading Selection Committee, I want to hear from you as our committee considers important books for teaching, research, and community building throughout the UO campus.

The Common Reading theme for 2018-2019 is Transborder/Transnational. This has exciting possibilities for programming and invitations for visiting scholars and creatives.

Please contribute your ideas between now and November 1st! The timeline is tight—but we have a lot of reading to do.

To nominate a book, simply fill out our nomination online form<https://blogs.uoregon.edu/commonreading/participate/nominate-a-book/>. To read more about the program and how the book is chosen, check out our about section<https://blogs.uoregon.edu/commonreading/about-the-common-reading/>.

Submissions are welcome from all campus and local community members so feel free to forward this email widely!

Thank you!
