You may recall that in December, a group of LSG members visited OSU to network with faculty and staff and to learn about their programs, services, and cultural centers. The visit was a great collaborative success and we learned a lot.

As part of our on-going research efforts to learn more about innovative and comprehensive student support systems serving Latinxs students, we are now set to visit Portland State U. The date is Thursday, April 13th, from 10 am—leaving UO at 8 am—and returning at 6:30 pm or soon thereafter. The one-way, two-hour commute adds time. We will definitely learn much, connect with PSU faculty and staff, and in the process as we advocate for similar support systems, we will contribute to the overall enhancement of UO Latinxs students. The tentative agenda for the day includes meetings with Equity and Inclusion VP, Diversity and Multicultural Student Services staff, possibly students, faculty/staff from EXITO, an innovative undergraduate research training program that prepares students for successful research careers in biomedical, behavioral, clinical, health and social sciences<https://www.pdx.edu/exito/>, and with ChicanX, LatinX faculty.

As of right now, there are three LSG members that are scheduled to attend the campus visit, Audrey Lucero, COE assistant professor, Luz Romero Montaño, Romance Languages PhD graduate, and I. We would love to have a few more faculty/staff/students attend. The more participants the better, so please consider attending. We will provide van transportation.
