University of East London PhD Excellence Studentship

Project Title:

Exploring and extending the social impact of disabled-led theatre making through the work of Access All Areas Productions and Not Your Circus Dog Collective

The School of Arts and Creative Industries at the University of East London conducts research work that addresses real-life issues through creative arts practice.

We are passionate about our research being socially engaged, inclusive and innovative making real world impact to address inequalities.

In the latest REF 2021, both our Units of Assessment achieved world leading or internationally excellent outputs and impact.

We are offering an Excellence Studentships to commence September 2024 with full fee cover and a bursary of £20,000 per annum.

*         We have great experience in the supervision of practice-based PhD's supported by research active academic colleagues who are also experienced arts practitioners, curators and producers.

Applications are invited for a funded 3-year PhD scholarship (Home) working on the following research topical area:

*         Crip and Queer Performance

This is a targeted project working closely with Access All Areas and Not Your Circus Dog collective. The PhD will be supervised in collaboration with the RIX centre at UEL.

Applicants must have:

*         BA honours degree or equivalent in a relevant area

*         Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant area.
