Subject: Accessibility Ally Training-register on MyTrack now!
Dear colleagues,
The Accessible Education Center (AEC) will be holding the Accessibility Ally Program<https://aec.uoregon.edu/accessibilityally>/Training in the upcoming Spring term. The Accessibility Ally Program is an opportunity for interested faculty and staff to increase awareness related to disability and develop skills and knowledge to act as an ally for accessibility and inclusion of students with disabilities. Our mission with this program is to create a network of allies committed to eliminating the attitudinal, physical, and curricular barriers experienced by students with disabilities at the University of Oregon.
There are two components of the Accessibility Ally Program:
1. An online module<https://uomytrack.pageuppeople.com/learning/3178>, that is available at anytime through MyTrack.
* This online module is designed for instructors, but open to all employees, and covers topics including disability and higher education, legal foundations, universal design, typical barriers and accommodations, instructor responsibilities, and AEC processes.
1. Live Workshop
* Those interested in attending the Live Workshop can register through MyTrack<https://uomytrack.pageuppeople.com/learning/3334>. Topics will include conceptualizations of disability, disability history, disability representation, disability justice and intersectionality, ableist language and microaggressions against people with disabilities, universal design for learning, and more. This workshop will consist of two portions, a live virtual component and an in-person component.
* Spring Term 2024 Workshop Dates:
* Friday, May 3rd, 9AM-11AM (this will be held in a live, virtual format)
* Friday May 10th, 9AM-12PM (In person, will be held at EMU Crater Lake North)
Please share this information with your colleagues and teams! We look forward to you joining us!
Best,
Norma
