About the Presenter

Holli Yancey is the Instructional Design and Technology Director with the University of Alaska, Anchorage, Center for Human Development, Alaska’s UCEDD. She has a specialty background in Assistive Technology across the disability spectrum with her portfolio and work based in the concepts of Universal Design and “mobile first” design.

Holli brings a unique, simple perspective to technology and how we interact with it and leverage it to our advantage.
She believes that technology is simply one tool among many to connect people to their world. Yet in our digital age, full access is critical and those that need information most are often those left on the outside when the content is not accessible. Holli brings with her the belief that every person can learn simple steps to create and curate accessible digital content.

Disability is widespread and often invisible. Designing digital communications, products, and spaces in inclusive ways from the beginning allows more people the ability to access information and participate. This training speaks to a core value - the worth and dignity of every person - by addressing the shift to creating a "culture of accessibility" in your organization. We will cover basics of accessibility for environments, documents and the web with time for questions and break out groups to practice hands on.
This training will take place on Zoom web conferencing and is open to all participants.


CEs: 3 Social Work Continuing Education hours will be offered for participants (NASW-AK).

Cost: There is no charge to attend but you must pre-register.

  *   Learn about the user impact of inaccessible cultures, environments, and materials.
  *   Describe the principles and broad definitions of accessibility.
  *   Review case studies in small group activity to address ways of addressing and adjusting for cultural, environmental or material based accessibility needs.
