Hi Andy and Carly,
We're excited to let you know that we've launched the Riverfront Festival information and Equity Panel grant application on our site, www.eugene22.com/riverfrontfestival<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http*3A*2F*2Fwww.eugene22.com*2Friverfrontfestival&data=04*7C01*7CAFernandez*40eugene-or.gov*7C64843b9b02ac4e8964de08d9a931648c*7C0c0d3453aa1d41bc8aa35c843d4ca0e8*7C0*7C0*7C637726852169740483*7CUnknown*7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0*3D*7C3000&sdata=Dij*2BpZD3TEaOmmUCzkszp3y9GBKu5q8AhQRx*2BXIfrqY*3D&reserved=0__;JSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJSUlJQ!!C5qS4YX3!VhuaFktc8R4g2DR9iL6efnugVeTGb0y1ZO0m1fcmhAxHg5YljTm-FNb-q81uXus$>. I've also included a PDF if that works for you all.
Please spread the word to anyone you think might be interested in in applying.
Here's some language that you can share if you know folks who may be interested:
I am writing to share with you an exciting opportunity to be part of planning the free festival at the Downtown Riverfront Park during the World Athletics Championships (WCH Oregon22)!
The City of Eugene is inviting local organizations that produce cultural events and/or serve historically marginalized and underserved communities to apply for a grant funded position on the Eugene Riverfront Festival Equity Panel.
To be held during the 10-day World Athletics Championships in July 2022, the Eugene Riverfront Festival is an opportunity to welcome visitors and to celebrate the diversity of cultures in Eugene. The Equity Panel will be a part of a planning process that seeks to create an event where both locals and visitors feel they belong. This would mean being responsive to the aspirations of historically marginalized and underserved groups, including, but not limited to: American Indian and Alaskan Native, Black, African American, Hispanic, Latino/x, Asian, Pacific Islander, refugees, immigrants, LGBTQIA+, low-income communities, people experiencing disabilities individuals who are unhoused, youth, and seniors. To the best of our collective abilities, the goal for this panel is to serve as a space for authentic dialogue and exchange of ideas about how to manifest an inclusive and authentic festival experience.
The online application opens is LIVE here, https://www.eugene-or.gov/4855/Eugene-Riverfront-Festival<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.eugene-or.gov/4855/Eugene-Riverfront-Festival__;!!C5qS4YX3!VhuaFktc8R4g2DR9iL6efnugVeTGb0y1ZO0m1fcmhAxHg5YljTm-FNb-UH-gsp4$>, and the deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Dec. 10. I’ve also included a PDF of the grant application if that’s easier.
The selected representatives will advise City staff and event production company REVERE on an evolving list of topics beginning with:
* Marketing and communication themes – including, but not limited to festival branding and design elements
* Legacy art project themes
* Festival experience themes – including, but not limited to content planning, programming and activations
* Additional community engagement and outreach to communities that have been historically marginalized and/or underrepresented – including, but not limited to focus groups and listening sessions
* Potential interested local vendors – including, but not limited to food trucks, artisans, performers, non-profits and event related businesses
* Other topics to be determined
As Eugene welcomes the world in this once-in-a-lifetime event, the City of Eugene and REVERE are working in tandem to create an event that is the cornerstone of a “never before experienced city celebration”, the Eugene Riverfront Festival at the new Downtown Riverfront Park. The event’s vision is to celebrate Eugene and Oregon and serve as the primary “experience hub” during Oregon22.
Oregon22 is coming to Eugene, July 15-24, 2022, and it will be a global experience. It’s the first time the world championships have been held in the United States. The best track and field athletes in the world will come together in a celebration of diversity, human potential and athletic achievement. This extraordinary showcase will take stage in the heart the sport in the U.S.: in Oregon, in Eugene, at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.
Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions.
Cheers,
Colette Ramirez
