Thanks for your consideration, all! I have extended the survey deadline to April 5th and may even extend further - so if this link to the survey is still active<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSduAupnkz8QdKzjP1SAPX1zDheWMHFvfCLuAe0y4Md8UWym9Q/viewform__;!!C5qS4YX3!WBpU8jmjbnL_F7-4laQo8FL8J8tqgPpuzbTqWb6NxqdnutyEmwdl0LhwIyHTcD8$>, I'm still accepting responses! To recap, I am soliciting feedback about designing spaces for disabled joy! There are paid opportunities over Zoom and in person in Portland to interview.
I will begin getting in touch with people about paid interviews starting sometime this week. We are primarily seeking Portland, OR-based responses so that we can highlight the people and good design in our community, but ANY information that is collected in the survey will help ensure that we represent diverse needs when we teach architects about designing better spaces.
Feel free to be in touch!
Hannah

Greetings,
I've been on a list-serve with Heidi von Ravensberg for a number of years since I'd lived in Oregon. It's been a few years and I'm not quite as connected as I'd like to be, however, I'm still interested in issues that connect folks with disabilities. The survey that is being put out is a great idea for many agencies and individuals to participate from both Portland and areas near and far. My apologies for forwarding to others on late notice as I've just received this myself.
For the folks who are sending out this survey, if you have already been introduced to various organizations and networks within the disability realm, please accept my apologies. If not, I would highly suggest you contact some folks who live, work and breathe disability issues. Many are listed below.
For the folks I'm listing below, please feel free to pass along to your networks as well and if possible take the survey that the deadline is March 31st.

Heidi, Betsy and Hilary,
Could you forward this email to appropriate individuals? I got this email from one of my students that Hannah Silver who was one of architecture critics of a studio last term seeks for survey participants for her on-demand course about designing for disabled joy.
Best,
Kyuho

Hi John,
We had discussed access when I was a reviewer for your studio with Nancy. I'm looking for feedback from disabled folks for my next on-demand course about designing for disabled joy. There are paid opportunities to interview in Portland and over Zoom!
I was able to get this survey out to PSU students and thought you might be a good link to connect with UO students. Is there a disability services group you could share this with, or another way to share with students who might be interested?
Thanks!
Hannah

How do we design for disabled joy?
First - we ask disabled people what they need! It's time to center joy and access in design. No matter how we show up, we all deserve to seamlessly share a meal with friends at a restaurant, have a chance encounter with a neighbor at a cafe, or enjoy retail therapy at a cute local business. That's why we are partnering with the Assistive Technology Lab at Community Vision<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/informalfunction.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da50c64f5ad79a416999d00e&id=2f16b331f5&e=2758b43f34__;!!C5qS4YX3!TBXtH3QGJpDstcJHnoySl98xveqmoTIO8NDnJFT1EwyOoyCO-suDy2_-KYQzP6TkIFv5$> to bring insight from the Portland disability community to the people who design our shared spaces.
If you have experience with disability, we are eager to learn from you so we can educate designers! Take our survey by March 31st to be entered to win a gift card and/or participate in further paid opportunities to share your stories. And please share!
Take the survey!<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/informalfunction.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da50c64f5ad79a416999d00e&id=eceedcc292&e=2758b43f34__;!!C5qS4YX3!TBXtH3QGJpDstcJHnoySl98xveqmoTIO8NDnJFT1EwyOoyCO-suDy2_-KYQzP7E49bwO$>

Not disabled? Here's how you can help!
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) helps architects and interior designers make our shared spaces more accessible, but it is just a starting point. Design details outside of the ADA's scope can make all the difference for an individual who wants to engage fully in their community spaces. With 1 in 4 Americans experiencing disability<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/informalfunction.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da50c64f5ad79a416999d00e&id=09082f6130&e=2758b43f34__;!!C5qS4YX3!TBXtH3QGJpDstcJHnoySl98xveqmoTIO8NDnJFT1EwyOoyCO-suDy2_-KYQzP577W1eS$>, it's imperative that we understand the diverse landscape of how people show up, and what we can do to meet their needs.
Designers and space-keepers: what do you want to know about designing spaces that are welcoming to people with diverse physical and cognitive needs? Email hannah at informalfunction.com<mailto:hannah at informalfunction.com?subject=Disabled%20Joy%20Designer%20Questions> to share your questions.
While you're waiting for us to gather info on designing for disabled joy, check out our Size-Inclusive Design on-demand course<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/informalfunction.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5da50c64f5ad79a416999d00e&id=5c005f26f0&e=2758b43f34__;!!C5qS4YX3!TBXtH3QGJpDstcJHnoySl98xveqmoTIO8NDnJFT1EwyOoyCO-suDy2_-KYQzP4O9sBfw$> for ways to make spaces more welcoming to the 1/3 of Americans who are plus size.
