Written by Karl Kajomo Moritz:

In the USA, every year, more than two million people sustain a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). On June 29th, 2010, my life changed permanently when I was hit head on by a car @ 35 mph and dragged 32 feet while bike commuting.

Before my life change, I was a full-time Apparel Tech Designer and full-time bike commuter, riding 40 miles a day round-trip to work and home and riding bikes with my three sons at the park. After five weeks in a coma (lights out - No one home) in 2010, I woke with an s-TBI, Glasgow Coma scale of 5, 13 titanium screws in my fractured hip, 7 spin fractures, Aphasia (Speech), Diffuse Axonal Injury (DAI) balance issues, and physical injuries, some of which persist to this day.

Given only a few months of speech therapy and very limited rehab, I set out to heal myself and find the best methods for improving my brain function (Brain Bandwidth). I primarily focused on Naturopathic, as Big Pharm (Rx), I had too many side effects with it.

After years of dedication to bike commuting & racing a fixed-gear bike (new) at the Velodrome track in Portland, currently I'm into high cardio exercise, Acupuncture, Neurofeedback, Healthy Nervous System, a veggie Keto healthy diet, Meditation, and Speech Therapy (all paid for out of pocket). I want to bring my story to others who also do not receive enough rehab and care. I want people to know that they can explore and take charge of their care. For me, I'm "Spinning for Neurogenesis" every time I hit the road on my bike. A united better health plan would help so many people.

I thought I would be much more healed by now than I am. It's been a long ride, with very little support.
