Hell all,

I hope this email find you well. I try to reach out to you to ask your ideas and help.

I teach an Interior Architecture studio in winter term. The goal of this studio is first, to suggest hypothetical programs of multiuse support center that supports independent living for people with various disabilities in Lane County, and second, to propose architectural design options under each program. Currently, I work with LILA (Lane Independent Living Alliance) and will use their building as a hypothetical site. The building is 16,000 - 20,000 square feet in size. I choose this building (13th and Willamette St.) because of its primary location of downtown Eugene for easy access to the public transportation. At the end of the project, we would love to publish a studio portfolio disseminating design issues when designing a public space for various disabilities and programming ideas. Students will conduct research what programs are good candidates for the center. Our model for this project is Ed Roberts Campus located in Berkeley CA and we will visit the Ed Roberts Campus to study the building design and organizations.

I am trying to identify local independent living movement advocates and agencies to be possibly included in our studio program exercise. Also I would like to engage students and community members in this design exercise. The biggest challenge for this studio would be to understand what types of services should be considered for comprehensive support within the proposed center. Students will develop several program options.

Do you know any local organizations that I can reach out for possible participation? I would also welcome your own ideas of this multiuse support center for independent living movement.

Some of ideas that I have are: Art and Craft center for developmental disabilities; assistive technology classroom/education; job recourse center; occupational therapy and training.

Thank you for your ideas and suggestions.

Best,

Kyuho
