DanceAbility Downtown
[dancer in tricycle-wheelchair and other dancers in front of Eugene library]A roving demonstration of choreography and "structured improvisations" that will pop up in various downtown hotspots, featuring dancers with and without disabilities from around the world.
Time and locations (times are approximate):
5:30p.m. - 5:55p.m. in front of the Eugene Public Library (10th and Olive St.)

6:00p.m. - 6:40p.m. in the bus station and vicinity (also in front of Actor's Cabaret ANNEX on 10th Ave.), i.e. Olive to Willamette St. between 10th and 11th Ave.

6:45p.m. - 7:10p.m. in Kesey Square at Broadway and Willamette

7:15p.m. Last section in the Park Blocks, i.e. near 8th and Oak St.

The 16 dancers have been studying the DanceAbility method in a four-week full-time course led by Alito Alessi.

Weekly DanceAbility Classes Starting Again September 19, 2016
Experience the beauty and joy of communicating through movement in a diverse group of mixed-abilities dancers.

This creative dance class is for people across the full spectrum of abilities and disabilities that are interested in dance or recreation. Attendees who cannot see or hear are welcome, as are people in power wheelchairs, people with intellectual disabilities, experienced dancers without disabilities, etc. These classes are always designed for FULL inclusion.

For the youth classes, non-disabled siblings of participants with disabilities are encouraged and welcome to join.

For adult classes, people without disabilities who are interested in the magic of connecting through creative movement and the study of improvisation are encouraged and welcome to attend, alongside those with disabilities.

Full and partial scholarships are available.

Albuquerque and D.C. Tour
The "Don't Leave Me" performance with eight dancers with and without disabilities will be presented in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on September 9, 2016, and at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. on October 16th. Alito Alessi will also be teaching master classes in the dance departments of the University of New Mexico and University of Maryland, as well as offering other public lectures and DanceAbility classes close to those dates, so if you have friends there who should know, here is a link to tour details.
