DanceAbility Talk with Videos

Please join us for a free presentation by Alito Alessi, world renowned
choreographer and founder of DanceAbility International, as he speaks about
mixed-abilities dance and the value of creating an all-inclusive
experience. The talk and video presentation will take place from 6:30 –
7:30 p.m. at 576 Olive Street, Suite 208, Eugene. Presented in conjunction
with the ARC of Lane County.

Alito Alessi is an innovator who has continually pushed the envelopes of
contemporary dance.

He was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for his contributions to the
evolution of dance and disability. He began exploring mixed-abilities dance
in the late 1980’s. Since then, he has trained over 500 teachers worldwide
in the DanceAbility method, while reaching tens of thousands of individuals
in Oregon and in over 20 countries through performances and educational
programming.

The DanceAbility method uses creative movement and dance and ensures that
ALL people can

participate, across a full spectrum of abilities and disabilities.
Award-winning videos will be shown

both about the dance method, and choreographed work.

Free.

This presentation is happening in conjunction with a 5-day DanceAbility
Teacher Orientation that Alessi is teaching in Eugene, June 13-17th. A full
month-long DanceAbility Teacher Certification Course will be in Eugene,
August 7th - September 2nd. These Certifications teach participants how to
teach dance and movement to groups that integrate people of all abilities
