Featuring guest speaker Reveca Torres, founder of Backbones

Backbones is an online community that serves as a support group and educational resource for people with spinal cord injury and their families. Reinventing the Wheel is a photo exhibit that reflects the lives of 21 people with spinal cord injury through a realistic, positive and creative lens.

Join us to learn more about accessibility resources on campus with presentations by the AccessABILITY Student Union, Accessible Education Center, and Disability Studies. ASUO will also release its new accessibility resource guidebook. Snacks and refreshments will be provided by UO Catering.

Audio format and real-time captioning will be provided. This publication will be available in accessible formats upon request. Accommodations for people with disabilities will be provided if requested in advance by emailing asuoaca at uoregon.edu.

Reveca Torres is co-founder and  director of BACKBONES.  BACKBONES exists to help people with spinal cord injury or disease (SCI/D) and their families connect with their communities. We do that by creating events and experiences that promote awareness and engage people of all abilities. http://backbonesonline.com/?page_id=72

Reveca is an artist, storyteller and humanitarian.  She will be at the UO on February 17 and 18 for the opening of REINVENTING THE WHEEL: 
Stories of Life After Spinal Cord Injury, a traveling photo Exhibit, which she curated.

Reveca was named the 2015 NEW MOBILITY Person of the Year.
