Subject: Clarification re: IMPORTANT and URGENT AASU request: Please read

p.s., what precipitated this is that I was completely overwhelmed with
the demands to meet with the ASUO tag and to attend a mandatory
contracting meeting re: submitting student union contracts to the
Controllers. I met with our ASUO Tag and our Controller Tag, and
explained about educational accommodations I get through the ADA and
that the ASUO and Student Senate should provided equivalent types of
recommendations.

I was able to get an extension for submitting our 2016-17 Budget from
11/6 to 11/11. I, however, explained that the problems AASU has faced
at UO are because the processes are not accommodating. I also explained
that a one-time exception helps and is deeply appreciated, but it
doesn't help with the ongoing structural barriers. That is when I got a
commitment from our ASUO Tag, who is also the Vice-President of Student
Senate, to bring a resolution in front of the Student Senate in order to
make ADA accommodations structural for student unions whose members are
comprised of students protected by the ADA.

These accommodations will include things like flexibility in the budget
deadline and working with a consistent TAG. Hopefully, too, the ASUO
Accessibility Advocate will provide more active support to the AASU.

I hope this contextual information helps make the purpose of what I
discussed in the email I sent below more clear.
