Hello,

Somehow, sometime a while ago I happily ended up on the list serve for the
U of O Disabilities program. Although I no longer live in the area, I am
always encouraged and invigorated by the correspondence. I am an advocate
for people who experience disabilities and am a parent of a young lady who
experiences one as well. I hope you all don't mind a bit of feedback from
myself?

   - I presume by the above conversations that the focus group has already
approached folks who experience the aforementioned disabilities? If not,
may I recommend a few other people who would give valuable insight as well?
   - Nicholas Kassa uses a power wheelchair for mobility and works at Full
Access Brokerage there in Eugene. He is a graduate of the Oregon Partners
In Policymaking class and is a great advocate as well.
   - Last year I was a part of the Springfield Education Foundation
planning team for their "Night of 11,000 Stars Gala". One individual is
visually impaired who also utilizes a service dog. I don't remember his
name, but Ronnell Curry at the Foundation would know.
   - Susanna Ramierez with Disability Rights Oregon would also be a great
source to tap. She attended an event there on campus last year with the
launch of the 18 month long project of the Compendium.

One final thought for the Associate Professor of Interior Architecture is
that I do believe you are a highly qualified individual for this focus
group. I have a background with design, one non-disabled cousin who is a
practicing architect and in the spirit of another cousin, who, though no
longer is with us, did use a power chair and had studied to be an
architect. Anyone who has an interest in architecture and design can only
gain valuable knowledge and understanding for your field and thus pass it
along to other contemporaries within the field of architecture and design
for the common good. A book by the title "A Pattern Language" comes to
mind, too.

Kindest Regards,

Rochelle Ghose
