<p class="MsoNormal">Just a friendly reminder to consider attending the Leona Tyler lecture scheduled for next Friday May 7<sup>th</sup>. This lecture is jointly hosted by the CPHS and PSY departments.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The lecture itself is from 11am-12pm. After the lecture and from 12:30-1:30pm, Dr. Noble will give a talk focused on professional development topics relevant for graduate students.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Finally, Dr. Noble will be available for individual/small group discussions. If you and/or your collaborators would like to schedule an individual 15-minute or so discussion with Dr. Noble between 1:30-2:30pm that day, please contact Sheila

<p>Dear CPSY and PREV students,<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>It is my pleasure to announce the 2021 Leona Tyler Lecture this year will feature Dr. Kimberly Noble from Columbia University. On Friday May 7<sup>th</sup>, Dr. Noble will be lecturing on “Socioeconomic Inequality and Child Brain Development”, see abstract
attached. She will be staying to join a “Growing Up in Science” talk immediately following the lecture (same Zoom link), where she will focus on professional development topics for graduate students.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p>Kimberly Noble, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Neuroscience and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. As a neuroscientist and board-certified pediatrician, she studies how socioeconomic inequality relates to children's cognitive and brain development.
Her work examines socioeconomic disparities in cognitive development, as well as brain structure and function, across infancy, childhood and adolescence. She has funding from the NIH and more than a dozen private foundations and is one of the principal investigators
of Baby’s First Years, the first clinical trial of poverty reduction in the first three years of life. Dr. Noble received her undergraduate, graduate and medical degrees at the University of Pennsylvania. She was the recipient of the Association for Psychological
Science Janet Taylor Spence Award for Transformative Early Career Contributions, the American Psychological Association award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest and is a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science.
Her TED talk has received more than 2 million views to date, and her work has received worldwide attention in the popular press.<o:p></o:p></p>
