<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222;background:white">The NIDA P50 Center for Excellence, "Center on Parenting and Opioids” (CPO) reques proposals to fund training opportunities that occur in the spring and summer
 of 2020. The Pilot & Training Core of the CPO seeks to support researchers at all career stages in seeking training opportunities that are aligned with the Center priorities.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222;background:white">This grant year, we have a pool of about $30,000 available for training-related activities, broadly construed. These activities include but are not limited support
 for: travel to trainings and workshops; developing and hosting workshops at UO; building and running webinars on topics related to the Center Aims; and various additional training materials and tools. The Pilot & Training Core will use some of these funds
 to host local training events and disseminate training documents and materials. The balance of the funds each year will be distributed to trainees, Center Scientists, colleagues, and collaborators to be used for training and career development directly related
 to the Center Aims.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><b><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222;background:white">Funding Priorities</span></b><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222;background:white">Applications will be reviewed with respect to their fit with the following priorities:

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222">1.</span><span style="font-size:7.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;color:#222222">   
</span><i><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222">Fit of the Proposed Training Opportunity with the Needs of the Trainee</span></i><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222">. Proposers are encouraged to describe how the proposed
 training opportunity aligns with their training goals and/or addresses gaps in their or others career development plan. Training proposals will be evaluated in light of how well the opportunity meets the current needs of the trainee. As a general principle,
 the funds are intended to support targeted training in particular research areas and/or methodologies (e.g., workshops). However, applications for other high-leverage career development opportunities (e.g., present a talk at a conference) will also be eligible
 for funding.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

 priority for funding. We will include a list of example training opportunities that align with the Center Aims in each call for applications.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

</span><i><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222">Availability of Funds</span></i><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222">. Applicants who do not have access to alternative funds to support the training opportunity will
 take priority over applications from individuals with alternative financial resources to support the training.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

</span><i><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222">Equity</span></i><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222">. We will strive for long-running equity across the units affiliated with the Center. Concretely, proposers from
 units who have received relatively less training support from this mechanism will take priority over proposers from units that have received relatively more training support (or more recent training support).

<p class="xmsonormal" style="background:white"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222">The Pilot & Training Core will solicit applications for training funds approximately one month before the start of each UO academic term. Applications
 will be reviewed in a timely manner by the Pilot & Training Review Committee (Berkman, Seeley, Seghete, Skowron). The Pilot & Training Core Review Committee will review applications for training funds each term, weighing the priorities listed above. Final
 allocations will be made by the Steering Committee on a term-by-term basis. There is no pre-determined number of applications that will be supported each term. In making decisions, the Steering Committee will review the recommendations from the Review Committee
 and weigh the availability of funds each quarter with respect to other Pilot & Training Core investments, the number and quality of applications, and other funds available locally for P50-related opportunities. Proposals will be accepted only for upcoming
 training opportunities (i.e., no retrospective reimbursement for past trainings will be accepted).<br>

 adaptive intervention (JITAI)</b></a> is an emerging mobile health intervention design aiming to provide support “just-in-time”, namely, whenever and wherever support is needed. A JITAI does this via adaptation. The JITAI employs wearable sensors and other
 approaches to data collection to monitor ongoing information on the dynamics of an individual’s emotional, social, physical and contextual states. The adaptation occurs when this information is used to individualize the type and delivery timing of support.
 The adaptation in a JITAI is intended to ensure that the right type of support is provided whenever the person is (a) vulnerable and/or is in a state of opportunity, and (b) receptive, namely, able and willing to receive, process and utilize the support provided.</span><o:p></o:p></p>

 in the development of these interventions. We will discuss MRTs and how they can be used to answer these scientific questions. Useful primary aim data analysis methods for MRTs will also be discussed.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal" style="background:white"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#222222">The emphasis of this workshop is on JITAI and MRT design considerations and applications. Most of Day 1 and some of Day 2 focus on this. On Day 2, much
