<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:#212121;background:white">I’m hopeful you will share this with your students who will be Graduate Employees (GE) for the first time Winter term, 2018. We will also reach out directly to new GEs and to
GEs who may have missed the fall training in December and January as well but, it’s always helpful if they hear from all of you as well.

mandatory training for all new </span>Graduate Employees (GE)<b>, <span style="color:#212121;background:white">
Thursday, January 11</span></b></span><b><sup><span style="font-size:10.0pt;color:#212121;background:white">th</span></sup></b><b><span style="font-size:12.0pt;color:#212121;background:white"> 1:00-5:00 PM in the Crater Lake Rooms, EMU. For those unable to
attend on the 11<sup>th</sup> we will offer a makeup session Saturday, January 20<sup>th</sup> 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM</span></b><span style="font-size:12.0pt">
<b><span style="color:#212121;background:white">in the Cedar Spruce Rooms, EMU.</span></b><span style="color:#212121;background:white">
</span>This training, which is a product of the contract negotiations with the GTFF, will provide new employees with knowledge of university policies, resources, and strategies for dealing with challenges they may face in your new role as instructors, administrators,
and researchers at the UO. It will cover topics such as sick leave, Title IX policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act, resources available to employees, and other issues pertinent to your role as a Graduate Employee.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Attendance will be recorded, and students will be paid for the time they spend in the training. Once they have completed the training, they have fulfilled their obligation, and do not have to take the training again
in subsequent terms. If you do not participate in the training you risk losing subsequent GE appointments. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
