Two researchers are need to help collect, code and transcribe data for a project evaluating the impacts of an informal science outreach program on middle school aged girls science identities and attitudes. Research assistants will administer surveys and other
research instruments, lead focus group and conduct observations. <br>
<br>
Research assistants will work closely with the principal investigator to ensure fidelity of observations, implementation and coding. 50 hours of work total for the months of July & August. The data collection will take place between July 11-22nd and August
8-19th. <br>
<br>
This is an excellent chance to get hands on experience conducting mixed methods research in education.<o:p></o:p></p>

<b>Qualifications</b><br>
Training and/or experience in qualitative methods including taking field notes, writing memos, transcription, and observations. Applicants must complete UO mandated training in research with human subjects.<br>

<b>Research Description:</b> This research project explores how an informal science intervention impacts girls science affinities (interests, efficacy, attitudes, and identity). It is a mixed-methods project employing ordinal scale survey data, demographic
information, and quantitative data from observations, conversations and interviews. The study involves a split half control group design with repeated measures. This is the third year of the study. Graduate students interested in a larger role in the project
may be eligible for research credits through their advisors and co-authorship on resulting publications. <br>
