The UO, along with PSU and OSU, are co-sponsoring a workshop, Planning and Writing Successful Grant Proposals, presented by Dr. M. S. (Peg) AtKisson and Dr. Amanda Welch of the highly regarded AtKisson Training Group<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.atkissontraininggroup.com/about__;!!C5qS4YX3!CNCB_wYtW9FMNXv6DF93PHnIuZUfy0RJwWsTGU2Sgf7hk48OtgVvqvppu696jkgkeMCRuCMkJhT1KpVewlF9RYs$> on Thursday, May 25, and Friday, May 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This virtual seminar is designed for faculty from all disciplines. Participants will learn about the fundamental concepts of proposal planning and writing backed by concrete tips and operational strategies that support planning and longer-term sustainability.

SEMINAR STRUCTURE

  1.  Two virtual four-hour sessions over two days
     *   Session one: Before You Begin to Write and the Critical First Page
     *   Session two: Justifying Need & Proving Feasibility and Everything Else
  2.  Combined lecture format and engagement activities
  3.  Breadth of funding targets covered, including NSF, NIH, NEH, and USDA
EXPECTED OUTCOMES

  *   Broader understanding of the grant planning, writing, and review process
  *   Ability to make less arbitrary and more informed writing decisions
Note that spaces are limited for this event, and the cost per participant is $50 for workshop materials. If registered attendees exceed workshop capacity, the hosting institutions will coordinate to allocate spaces to support faculty participation from a wide range of fields, institutions, and career stages.

The deadline for registering for this workshop is March 15, 2023. Notifications will go out to selected participants at the beginning of April with instructions about the means to pay the $50 workshop material costs at that time.
