Subject: Berkeley MPH Collaboration Opportunity
Hi there,
My name is Megan Olivera and I am a graduate of the Prevention Science program (MEd 2019-2020 and also got my BS at UO! SKO DUCKS). I am working currently at UC Berkeley for their School of Public Health with the official title as "Health Program Coordinator". I work hands-on with Master of Public Health (MPH) students getting them placed/onboarded for their practicum requirements for their degree completion. Lots of community partnerships so I was well prepared through the prevention science MEd curriculum!
I wanted to take the time to extend a wonderful opportunity for collaboration to the prevention science program (or any specific colleagues) that is currently happening here at Berkeley Public Health. Our Master of Public Health (MPH) students are required as part of their degree completion to engage in a practicum experience. We are currently inviting anyone working in a health related field (most specifically public health but this can be broadly applied!) to host a student as a preceptor for their experience. In exchange for offering learning opportunities and access to a broader professional network, hosts receive technical support on projects and gain fresh perspectives from early career public health professionals. This is a great opportunity to get Berkeley students involved in any projects you may need a helping hand or collaborate with some of your current UO students. We love university cross collaboration! As an alum, a chance to collaborate with other brilliant students who are dedicated to being changemakers through public health work would be so exciting. If this opportunity is not a good fit for your current priorities, we very much understand.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions as you explore whether to engage with this opportunity. We also encourage you to share this invitation with colleagues and others in your network who you believe could benefit from hosting an MPH student. On behalf of my team, thank you for being a part of our vibrant public health community. If you are interested, I have attached a more detailed informational flyer that also has links to our website<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/publichealth.berkeley.edu/student-life/career-and-leadership-development/practicum/__;!!C5qS4YX3!TNnzM7UiHavm5q3YueZZAbemEGUtwHMT2fKkUS8DYFUJ8mTc3mDEqMP2TMb-0IL9gw$>. Feel free to share this flyer with colleagues who might benefit!!
Warmly,
Megan Olivera, MEd | Health Program Coordinator
