Position Title: Mental Health Educator
Compensation: $15/hour
Hours: Approximately 6-12 hours/week
Duration: December 2021-June 2022, (Please note this position could also be for the duration of one term. There is an option to work during the summer as well.)
Supervisor: Mariko Lin, Assistant Director, Education and Prevention Outreach Director

The Mental Health Educator position works directly with the Education and Prevention Outreach Team at Counseling Services. This position focuses on providing educational workshops and presentations on topics related to mental health, wellness, and emotional well-being. The target audience of outreach provided by this position is mainly students while potentially providing outreach to faculty and staff. This position may also have additional opportunities to create and implement outreach programming  working collaboratively with campus partners beyond Counseling Services staff.
The Mental Health Educator may perform the following duties:

  *   Design, implement, and present educational and prevention programs and workshops relevant to college mental health
  *   Assist in the planning, creation, coordination, and implementation of education and prevention programming, awareness campaigns, and outreach events
  *   Work collaboratively with campus partners, departments, and student organizations to foster partnerships and collaborative events for Counseling Services
  *   Attend weekly meetings with the Counseling Services Education and Prevention Outreach Team
  *   Attend weekly or bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with the Education and Prevention Outreach Director to prioritize and strategize assigned tasks
  *   Other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Qualifications for this position include the following:

  *   Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills including written and oral communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  *   Ability to design, implement and evaluate education and prevention programs particularly workshops and presentations
  *   Demonstrated initiative, creativity, autonomy, and leadership qualities relevant to developing and implementing education and prevention outreach programs;
  *   Ability to relate to and develop rapport with students, campus partners, and CS staff;
  *   Demonstrated commitment to multicultural organizational development and multicultural competence

Note for psychology doctoral students:
Outreach presentations provided as part of this externship can be recorded as "program development/outreach programming" hours for applications for doctoral internship in psychology on the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship (AAPI) form.
